I shot and directed these advertisements for Baltimore-based toy company Ellie Bellie Kids. I also helped write the concept and story for both. They were a lot of fun to shoot, and done on a small business-sized budget. The result of each honestly represents the company.

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to all my clients and friends. 2009 was one of the most challenging years I’ve ever had, but it was also a year of development for my photography and of course, graphic design is ever-evolving. Here’s a look back at a few of the assignments and projects from this past year. Now [...]

The Storybook You Can Wear
Ellie Bellie Kids has the right idea. The company is founded on the premise that an imagination is a terrible thing to waste. You won’t find the typical toys and playthings at elliebelliekids.com. Every product is designed to get little ones thinking creatively and independently. One of their newest creations is the Five Point Crown. [...]

Where Film Crosses the Aisle 2009
2009 marks year two for the Impact Film Festival. The Impact Arts & Film Fund was created “as a platform for arts, documentary and narrative filmmaking to engage with the political and policy arena.” This year the festival is taking place in the shadow of the dome on Capitol Hill—I ask you is there a [...]

What IFF?
I’m proud to count the Impact Film Festival as a client. In fact, I branded the organization and worked with them through their first year with design for the festival which took place at both the Democratic and Republican national conventions. I also wrote the tagline for those events: Where Film Crosses the Aisle. I [...]
This baby is green.
Joyababy! Great name, yes? It demands to be shouted—joyously. My client Joyababy isn’t just a pretty name, they’ve got great products and a great philosophy. Keep it green. I developed this insert for their über-clever diaper clutch. It had to be as cool as the products are and get the green message across. Did I [...]
EBK Crown Release
Hear ye, hear ye! A new King/Queen/Prince/Princess has been crowned by Ellie Bellie Kids! I serve as the full-service creative resource for Ellie Bellie Kids. Photographer, Designer, Webmaster, etc. Just recently they’ve launched a new product. Quite clever, this new product is a screen-printed crown. I’ve scoured the Web and found nothing like it. But [...]
Once upon an opera
One of my favorite clients is Opera Vivente (OV) of Baltimore. A growing opera company with big, original, inspiring ideas and fantastic talent headed by director John Bowen. John and I are similarly-minded when it comes to creative. For the 2009/10 season I hired the very talented Linda Olliver to illustrate elaborate, fairy tale inspired [...]
One part fact. One part fiction.
Humor plays a very big role in life. It certainly does in mine. So why not use humor in your advertising? By their nature, small business owners are risk takers. But when it comes to their advertising and marketing needs these same risk-takers tend to lean toward the safe. The staid. The just plain boring. [...]
Who says accounting has to be a dry affair?
When I met with Kathy Kahler Lambrow about re-branding her company, we decided that we could add some color—and birds—to her accounting brand. You may be asking yourself: Self? What do birds have to do with accounting? The answer? Not a thing. But in our kick-off meeting, Kathy told me that she is an avid [...]
